Tanoshi 1626 reference headphone amplifier
The new “Ultimate” Headphone Amplifier is nearly here (hear ;), for those of you who listen to headphones as your “Primary” system, this is for you. Unapologetic, superb and worthy of any pair of headphones available (NOT requiring several watts to drive…., you know which ones they are), we have determined that yes, the 1626 is the PERFECT headphone amplifier output triode. This re-design has taken a long time to get right, designed to maximize the inherent qualities of the 1626 while mitigating the source of a higher noise-floor by a complete redesign of the power supply, layout, and inclusion of proprietary Wavelength Audio, regulated DC filament supplies for every tube. The use of the larger Tanoshi chassis has the added benefit of adding a 1/4” TRS jack on the faceplate in addition to the 4-Pin XLR connection. Finally, due to many, many requests, gone are the dual-mono volume controls, now replaced with a stereo, stepped-attenuator. Details, pictures and pricing coming soon. Stay tuned.
